Beware of the Like-Minded networking group

How often do you see something like “connect with like-minded people” on an invitation or networking group page?

That’s fine in doses, but here’s the issue: if you’re not careful you’ll find yourself in an echo chamber or filter bubble. Everyone on the same page, all agreeing with you.

Where’s the challenge? Where’s the personal growth? Where’s the different perspective?

If all you’re doing is connecting with like-minded people there is a risk of a real lack of diversity in your feedback, and therefore your thought process.

So challenge yourself. Connect with people who think differently than you. Surprise yourself with the possibilities!
